Look across the courtyard
Begin with the relationship between the large courtyard and the structures around it. Follow the permitted visitor route and allow space for other people to appreciate the view.
Notice the smaller details
A brick edge, a patch of shadow or the outline of a doorway can hold as much interest as the wider view. Pause without blocking the route, and leave historic surfaces as you find them.
A quieter way to look
Slow down for the textures, shapes and light around you. A view can change as you move through permitted visitor areas or pause beside the visitor route.
